The best play ever

Posted by Goliath FC on 12:08 AM

Goliath FC extended the improvement in the league to three games with a bold performance at the MMU Field.

The result was a mark of the club's progress under some training and friendly match as the Goliath FC added one point for a draw

Goliath FC were good in the first half, causing the Salsa problems with some decent counter-attacking football even started with ten players about 10 minutes.

But it was different after the break when Goliath defender had to battle hard - and rely on some luck - to keep out Salsa stuttering side.

Kevin, the defender, was outstanding, not putting a foot wrong as Salsa poured forward in search of a breakthrough.

Ujay suffered an ankle injury in the build-up to the game and it meant Goliath lined up in a 5-4-1 formation. The game-plan worked, frustrating Salsa who have drawn their last Four MMU League games 0-0.

Kevin,Meegan,Sim,Jack,Wan and Akmal tirelessly at the back of the park as Goliath FC try to secure first clean sheet in third MMU League games.

Ibrahim, made an impressive free kick for the Goliath and could have scored in the first half but the ball is wide from the goal.

The second try from Ibrahim also made Salsa defenders in chaos when Ibrahim dribble the ball from left side, turn back and shoot. But the ball blocked by one of Salsa big defender

It was mostly after the break and Ibrahim,Anep,Ady,Abang Man,Ujay all missed chances as they try to penatrate Salsa defends by hopes of a MMU League spot were dealt another blow.

Sim went close at the other end in the second half period as he try to head the ball from corner kick taken by Ibrahim but Salsa defender jump earlier and head the ball clear from penalty area.

Salsa would have been ahead at the interval had Sim not been in the right place to clear Salsa winger dribble from off the line.

At the end Goliath FC still out of the league after Seryes FC and Cool UTD draw 1-1 at the same time match and that make Goliath FC stand at the bottom of the group B with only 1 point and 1 game left.

Even though Goliath FC has out of the league but still they will try to defend their honour by trying to win their last game before finishing their season on this 2nd April.

Goliath FC last match will be on 2nd April at MMU Stadium against Cool UTD.

It was a game we should have won or at least draw.

Goliath was disappointed to leave MMU Field empty-handed after Goliath went down to a narrow defeat to Staff.

The Staff did not take several chances and were hit by a sucker-punch when the Staff took the lead through their striker in first half.

Ujay,Ayya,Zaid & Salem all went close as Goliath tried to get back in the time left but afterwards the Goliath could only rue what might have been.

Goliath keeper, Akmal said, "I thought our performance was good, on the balance of play we created four or five really good chances but did not take them.

"Staff also create a great deal, in the first half they had one chance and took it. Unfortunately for us that has shaped the game. I thought it was one of our best away performances of the season, but we did not take the chances and get the goal we needed.

"Goals change games, it’s an old cliché but it is absolutely true. If we had scored first, Staff would have had to come out at us, which is when we can pick teams off. But when we concede first we find it difficult to put pressure on. Overall the performance was fine but we are very disappointed to lose again.

"We were good but Staff which has a lot of experience play long ball trying to repel attacks. Attitude and performance-wise I am more than happy, but result wise we have to be disappointed because that was a game we should have won or draw."

Goliath came without two defender players because of injury ; Shek the right defender and Shauqie the left defender . Of the trio, Sim added:

"Ujay had a stiff hamstring yesterday, had some work with the physios last night and it eased off. It was not an actual pull, but he went into a challenge and felt it stiffen up almost immediately. We hope we can work on it and release the tightness, hopefully it is not a strain because that would take him out for a number of weeks."

The next game will be on 19 March against Salsa and for sure Goliath will be ready to face the challenge and change their fate because from other view Goliath FC only have been created two month ago and played only four games but manage to have a lot of chances in the field and lose only 1 goal to opponents compare to other teams who lose a lot of goals. They also have one match win 3-1 against Dettol FC.Overall this show that the new team,Goliath FC have a bright future ahead and a lot of their player can improved.

Goliath out of luck

Posted by Goliath FC on 8:29 PM
A disappointed Anas Benitez says that a lack of battling qualities was key to today defeat at MMU Field.

First half goals from Seryes FC through corner kick kept Goliath in fifth place, and the Manager accepted that the overall display was not up to scratch.

"Today's performance was not anywhere near the level we needed to be," he said. "You have got to roll your sleeves up when you come to places like this to battle for what you , and on occasions we were lacking in that respect.

"You have got to be strong and stand up to the challenge, but we allowed them to take the initiative.

"Other teams will not allow you to play, not allow your technically gifted players to have an influence on the game. You have to find another way, get a performance from within and take something from every performance. Today was a performance where some players did not perform to their capabilities, and that is a frustration for everybody.

"This was a setback, but we have to pick ourselves up and make sure we are in better shape for our upcoming games."

Goliath were forced into a change all the technical plans because Goliath midfielder Ibrahim was dropped out with an hamstring injury and center back defender,Sim is on loan until next week.

Anas adds, "We have a chance to win or at least draw but they have many advantage because of the pitch is wet and we missing the important player. We able to have one cross from right winger, adi because of their defender, keeper mistake and our left winger, anip have tried to shoot but the ball stuck in the middle. We are really out of luck"

IMT FC Manager, Mardeni Moyes said"It would be great if we manage to get Sim skills for our team this season"

However Goliath FC Manager, Anas Benitez said"Sim is an important player and a big asset for Goliath FC.It will be difficult play on this Friday match if he's gone"

And the brilliant Spain's personal assistant, Eddy Fagan, has claimed talks between the two clubs are ongoing.

Fagan told The Observer: "I spoke with Sim yesterday (Tuesday). We know that the clubs are talking about the transfer, although they have not reached a conclusion yet.

"I think on Friday transfer is still a possibility, though Sim will only talk about that when they do a deal..

The rainy with thunderstorm weather conditions by the MMU Field added Goliath’s fixture against Seryes FC to the list of matches postponed.

Despite having the pitch playable for most of the day leading up to the match, there nothing that could be done to prevent the surface from succumbing to the rainy conditions. It was raining heavily with thunderstorm started at 5.35pm and it continued about one hour.

Speaking after MMU Football League called the game off, Goliath Captain, Ujay gave his reaction.

“One’s always disappointed because you prepare and look forward to the game but you have to respect their decision on these matters,” he said. “It’s not easy for people to say whether the pitch is playable or not, but basically the League is paid to make that decision.

Goliath Vice Captain,Sim also said “In my opinion, especially with the rainy weather continuing, I thought that there was an element of danger and that it was better to call the game off.”
